Private Island Honeymoon
A tiny number of villas, quiet beaches and a level of privacy few mainland resorts can match.
A private-island stay is less about having an island literally to yourselves and more about very low guest numbers, large amounts of space and a feeling that the resort disappears into the landscape.
Where is it best?
Seychelles, Mozambique and the Zanzibar archipelago are the strongest choices, with several islands built around only a handful of villas.
| Planning point | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Typical positioning | Ultra-luxury |
| Ideal length | 3โ5 nights |
| Best for | Privacy and a slow finish to the honeymoon |
| Pair with | Safari first, island second |
Why shorter is often better
For many couples, three or four nights at the end of a safari is the sweet spot. The island then feels like a reward rather than the entire trip, and the high nightly rate is easier to justify.
Honeymoon tip: compare what is actually included. Transfers, meals and activities can make two seemingly similar island rates very different.
What to look for
- Number of villas on the island.
- Distance between villas and shared areas.
- Whether transfers are included.
- How much of the island is accessible to guests.
