Praslin Honeymoon

Granite beaches, quiet coves and one of the easiest island bases in the Seychelles.

Praslin is often the best Seychelles island for couples who want beautiful beaches without the movement and logistics of a fully private-island stay. It is large enough to explore, small enough to feel relaxed, and has several of the country’s most photographed beaches within easy reach.

Why Praslin works for honeymooners

The island balances resort comfort with independence. You can spend a morning at Anse Lazio, visit the Vallée de Mai in the afternoon, then return to a quiet hotel for dinner. This makes Praslin particularly good for couples who dislike being confined to one resort.

Best beaches

Anse Lazio is the headline beach, with pale sand, granite boulders and generally good swimming. Anse Georgette is more secluded and requires a little more planning to access. The east and south coasts have quieter stretches and often lower hotel prices.

Where to stay

For a classic romantic stay, choose the north-west or west side for access to the best-known beaches and sunsets. Couples who value privacy over convenience can look at smaller properties away from the main beach clusters. Private-pool villas can be worthwhile here because the island is quiet enough that resort facilities are less essential.

Best time

April, May, October and November are especially attractive transition months, with warm water and lighter winds. May to September is drier but can be breezier, while December to March is warmer and more humid.

Costs

Good honeymoon hotels commonly start around US$250–450 per night, with premium beach resorts and villas reaching US$700–1,200+ per night. Ferry or domestic-flight transfers from Mahé should be included in the total trip budget.

Best romantic experiences

  • Early morning at Anse Lazio before day visitors arrive.
  • Private boat day to Curieuse and nearby islets.
  • Walk through Vallée de Mai.
  • Private sandbank picnic where conditions allow.
  • Combine with La Digue for a slower second island.

How long to stay

Four to five nights is ideal in a multi-island honeymoon. Seven nights works if Praslin is the main base. For a first Seychelles trip, a Mahé–Praslin–La Digue combination gives more variety than staying on one island throughout.
