The short answer
The strongest Botswana + Mauritius honeymoon is about 13 nights: three nights in the Okavango Delta, three nights in Chobe or Savute, then seven nights at one Mauritius resort. The trip works because the first half is deliberately structured and the second half deliberately is not.
Botswana is one of Africa’s best honeymoon safaris when privacy, small camps and varied activities matter more than price. Mauritius is almost the opposite kind of luxury: deep resort choice, spa and dining infrastructure, easy lagoon days and no reason to pack again once you arrive.
The important planning choice is to protect three nights per Botswana base. A two-night stop sounds efficient but, after a light-aircraft or road transfer, often leaves only one proper full safari day. If your total holiday is fixed at 12 nights, we would rather use one excellent five-night Botswana area than squeeze two camps into five nights.

Start with water, wilderness and a very small camp
Choose the Delta camp by activity mix and concession, not merely by room photography. The most distinctive first chapter combines game drives with mokoro or boating where water levels and the concession allow.
Best honeymoon use of money: spend on the right location and private-concession experience before upgrading to the largest suite.
Change habitat, not just lodge branding
Chobe is the better fit when river safari, elephant concentrations and easier Kasane logistics matter. Savute is better when you want a drier, more land-led and predator-focused second chapter.
Route choice: Chobe is normally easier before Mauritius because Kasane connects commercially through Johannesburg. Savute is wilder but adds another internal air sector.
Seven nights, one coast, no urgency
Choose the coast for the month and the hotel for your honeymoon style. Le Morne and the west are excellent default choices after Botswana; the east has some of the island’s deepest resort luxury, while the north works if you want restaurants and nightlife outside the hotel.
Best default: one resort for all seven nights. Split the island only when two different coast experiences genuinely matter to you.

Botswana is normally the dominant cost because camps are small, often highly inclusive and connected by light aircraft. Mauritius gives you a broader range of resort prices than Seychelles, so it is easier to control the beach-half budget.

Botswana’s dry season is excellent for safari, while Mauritius is dry but coast and wind exposure matter.

Design the safari exit before you book the beach
1. Botswana’s internal flights are part of the experience
Okavango and Savute camps are commonly reached by light aircraft. Pack in soft-sided luggage and check the exact operator allowance before buying international baggage around it.
2. Kasane to Mauritius currently has no nonstop flight
The practical commercial routing is generally via Johannesburg. Current schedules show Kasane–Johannesburg connections and onward Johannesburg–Mauritius service, so the exact timing and ticket combination should be checked before the safari camps are fixed.
3. Maun also connects via Southern Africa
Current schedules show Maun–Mauritius options via Johannesburg and, on some schedules, Cape Town. That means a two-Delta-camp itinerary can also work, but Chobe/Kasane remains attractive when river safari is already part of your plan.
4. Do not count the regional travel day as a beach day
Even when the flights line up, you are changing from bush-aircraft logistics to international aviation and then transferring to a resort. Treat arrival in Mauritius as a reset evening.
5. One Mauritius resort is enough
After six safari nights, the value is in stopping. Split the island only if two coasts genuinely add something you want.
