The short answer
The strongest 15-night Rwanda + Kenya + Seychelles honeymoon is usually one Kigali arrival night, three nights near Volcanoes National Park, four nights in one Maasai Mara camp, then seven nights in Seychelles.
This route works because the three chapters do not compete with one another. Rwanda is the concentrated, high-impact primate experience; Kenya is the classic savannah safari; Seychelles is the long decompression at the end. The mistake is trying to make each country a full standalone tour.
The main trade-off is logistics. The Rwanda-to-Mara transfer can be a long day and depends on flight timings, while premium gorilla lodges and Seychelles resorts make this an expensive honeymoon. If your dates do not support a comfortable same-day connection, use a Nairobi buffer and either make the trip 16 nights or shorten Seychelles to six.

This is the compact version. The transfer between Rwanda and the Mara is the one place where flight schedules should override the template.
Protect the gorilla trek from the long-haul flight
Use Kigali as a genuine buffer rather than an obligatory city stop. Sleep, recover and leave for Volcanoes National Park the next morning with the permit day protected from an international delay.
Do not put the trek on arrival day + 1 if the inbound schedule is fragile. The permit is expensive and date-specific, so a calm start is worth more than squeezing an extra activity into Kigali.
One major trek, then leave room around it
Three nights is the sweet spot for most couples: arrive, trek, then keep a slower day for the lodge, golden monkeys, a landscape activity or simply recovery. Rwanda’s official tourism site currently lists international gorilla permits at US$1,500 per person per trek.
Second trek or better lodge? If gorillas are the central reason for the honeymoon, a second trek may be more meaningful than upgrading every room night. Otherwise one trek keeps this three-country route balanced.
Do one savannah safari properly
Four nights in one Mara base is enough to move beyond a safari highlight reel. Choose the camp around location, privacy and guiding rather than adding Amboseli, Samburu or a second Mara camp just to make the itinerary look more varied.
Private conservancies can be especially attractive for honeymooners when lower vehicle density and more flexible activities matter more than being inside the national reserve itself.
Worth spending on: a private vehicle often changes the safari more than a room-category upgrade because you control pace, stops and photography time.
Make the final week deliberately easy
After gorillas and safari, resist the urge to turn Seychelles into a seven-day checklist. Stay on Mahé for the simplest logistics, use Praslin as the strongest all-round base, or split Praslin and La Digue if island-hopping itself is part of the dream.
One or two islands? Seven nights supports two comfortably. Three islands usually creates more packing and transfer time than the final week needs.

Keep Rwanda focused on Volcanoes National Park
The point of Rwanda in this route is not to duplicate the Kenya safari. It is to deliver the one wildlife experience the Mara cannot.
Three Volcanoes nights
One arrival day, one gorilla-trek day and one recovery or second-activity day. This is the cleanest fit inside a 15-night honeymoon.
Four nights + two treks
Worth it when the primates are the main reason for travelling and you are comfortable committing more budget to Rwanda.
Full Rwanda circuit
Lake Kivu, Nyungwe and Akagera are excellent, but adding them here weakens the pacing because Kenya and Seychelles already supply the contrasting chapters.

When to go
The best time is the overlap between three different climates
There is no month when Rwanda trekking, the Mara and every Seychelles coast are simultaneously at their absolute best. Choose the compromise that fits your priorities.

The logistics that decide whether this feels elegant or exhausting
1. Treat gorilla permits as the fixed point
Book the Rwanda chapter around permit availability first, then place the lodge and regional flights around that date. The official Rwanda tourism site currently lists international permits at US$1,500 per person per trek.
2. Do not assume Volcanoes → Mara is a simple transfer
You need to return toward Kigali, fly into Kenya and then connect onward to the Mara. If the regional and bush-flight schedules do not create a sensible same-day chain, add a Nairobi buffer rather than forcing it.
3. Nairobi airport logistics matter
International flights use Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, while many scheduled Mara bush flights operate from Wilson Airport. If the itinerary requires an airport change, allow real road-transfer time and avoid tight connections.
4. Pack to the bush-flight allowance
The smallest aircraft sector often dictates the practical luggage limit for the whole trip. Soft-sided bags are commonly easier, but check the actual operator’s current rules before departure.
5. Recheck entry formalities close to travel
Kenya’s official system currently requires an eTA for most non-exempt foreign visitors before travel, while Seychelles uses its Electronic Border System for visitor travel authorisation. Rwanda entry rules depend on nationality. Always verify the official rules for the passports you actually hold.
6. Keep Seychelles to one or two bases
By the final week you have already crossed several borders and airports. One great resort or a Praslin + La Digue split usually feels much more honeymoon-like than trying to collect three islands.

What is the best order for the three countries?
