How many nights do you need?
Ten nights is enough for Cape Town, the Winelands and one safari reserve. With less time, cut a region rather than compressing every stop. Fourteen nights is the sweet spot if you want to add Mauritius, Seychelles or Mozambique. At that length, the trip can still feel like a honeymoon rather than a sequence of transfers.
For safari, three nights is the working minimum in one reserve and four is better for a honeymoon. In Cape Town, allow at least four nights if you want a weather buffer for Table Mountain and time for one proper coastal day. Franschhoek or Stellenbosch deserves two nights if wine, food and slow afternoons are part of the appeal.
When is the best time for a South Africa honeymoon?

Safari conditions are strongest through the dry winter months, roughly May to September. Cape Town and the Winelands are at their warmest and most reliable from November to March. If you want both in one honeymoon, October is one of the best compromises: excellent game viewing, warmer Cape weather and fewer peak-season pressures than Christmas or New Year.
If your dates are fixed by the wedding, do not force the same route year-round. A December honeymoon can lean harder into Cape Town, the Winelands and the coast; a July honeymoon can give more weight to safari and use Mauritius or Seychelles for warmer beach weather.

South Africa is easier to self-plan than many safari destinations because domestic flights, roads and city hotels are straightforward.
