Ten romantic places to stay across Sal, Boa Vista and São Vicente, and which island suits the honeymoon you actually want.

Cape Verde hotel guide for couples

Choose the island before the resort

For a classic beach honeymoon, Morabeza in Santa Maria on Sal is the stand-out hotel; for adults-only all-inclusive, choose Meliá Llana or Robinson on Sal or Riu Karamboa on Boa Vista; for something genuinely secluded, book Spinguera Ecolodge on Boa Vista’s north-east coast. Add two nights at Kira’s Boutique Hotel in Mindelo if you want music and culture as well as beach.

Cape Verde’s beach honeymoons happen on two islands. Sal is the easy one: more flights, a lively beach town in Santa Maria and plenty of restaurants outside the resorts. Boa Vista has bigger, emptier beaches, but its resorts are more isolated, so you will eat most meals where you stay. That single difference decides whether all-inclusive makes sense.

What a week costs: a real price check

Hotel Riu Palace Santa MariaAll-inclusiveabout US$2,560about US$366

March is peak winter-sun season for European travellers, so these are high-season prices. Flights are extra. To see how that compares with an Indian Ocean honeymoon, look at our Seychelles and Mauritius cost guides.

Should you go all-inclusive?

On Boa Vista, usually yes. The resorts are spread along long beaches, often far from the main town of Sal Rei, so you would pay resort prices for most meals anyway.

On Sal, it depends where you stay. In Santa Maria, a breakfast or half-board hotel such as Morabeza or Dunas de Sal lets you try the town’s seafood restaurants. Outside town, an adults-only all-inclusive such as Meliá Llana or Robinson makes the week simpler.

Adults-only options at a glance

  • Meliá Llana Beach Resort & Spa (Sal): adults 18+, all-inclusive, swim-up rooms available.
  • Robinson Cabo Verde (Sal): adults only, all-inclusive, activity-focused.
  • Hotel Riu Karamboa (Boa Vista): adults 18+ since 2022, all-inclusive.
  • Hotel Riu Cabo Verde (Sal): also now adults-only and all-inclusive, with about 500 rooms, if the others are full.

How many nights, and should you add a second island?

Seven nights on one beach island is the simplest honeymoon. With ten nights or more, add two nights in Mindelo and two or three on Santo Antão for mountain walks; it turns a beach week into a journey. Inter-island flights and ferries can change at short notice, so avoid tight same-day international connections. Our Cape Verde honeymoon guide has a full 10-night route and the best months to go.

Want warmer water and more luxury?

If calm lagoons, coral reefs and private-pool villas matter more than short flights from Europe, compare Mauritius and the Seychelles.

Cape Verde resort questions

What is the best resort in Cape Verde for a honeymoon?

It depends on the honeymoon you want. Morabeza in Santa Maria is the best classic beach hotel; Meliá Llana and Robinson on Sal and Riu Karamboa on Boa Vista are the strongest adults-only all-inclusives; Spinguera Ecolodge on Boa Vista is the most secluded.

Is Sal or Boa Vista better for a honeymoon?

Sal is better if you want restaurants, a beach town and easy flights. Boa Vista is better if you want huge, empty beaches and are happy to stay in your resort.

Are there adults-only resorts in Cape Verde?

Yes. Meliá Llana Beach Resort & Spa and Robinson Cabo Verde on Sal, and Hotel Riu Karamboa on Boa Vista, are adults-only and all-inclusive. Hotel Riu Cabo Verde on Sal is also adults-only.

How much does a honeymoon resort in Cape Verde cost?

In our check for a March 2027 week, top Sal resorts cost about US$324–382 a night for two including taxes, or roughly US$2,270–2,670 for seven nights, before flights.

Is all-inclusive worth it in Cape Verde?

Usually on Boa Vista, where resorts are isolated. On Sal it depends: in Santa Maria a half-board hotel lets you eat out, while outside town an all-inclusive is simpler.

How we chose: this shortlist is organised by honeymoon fit, location and style, not a universal quality score, and we have not stayed at every property. Facilities, room counts and guest ratings were checked against property listings on Expedia and RIU’s website on 5 October 2026; confirm current details and rates before booking.
