Is Cape Verde good for a honeymoon?
Cape Verde is an archipelago of ten volcanic islands off the coast of West Africa. Each island has a different character: Sal and Boa Vista are all about sand and sea, Santo Antão is a hiker’s paradise of green valleys and cliffside paths, São Vicente has the lively port town of Mindelo and its music, and Fogo is dominated by a dramatic volcano. For honeymooners, that variety means you can mix lazy resort days with something more memorable.
It is worth being clear about expectations. The Atlantic is cooler and wavier than the Indian Ocean, the landscape is dry and desert-like on the beach islands, and the choice of top-end hotels is narrower than in Mauritius or the Seychelles. In exchange, flights from Europe are shorter, prices are lower and the islands feel more authentic.

Sal or Boa Vista?
Sal is easier: more restaurants, more flights and a lively beach town. Boa Vista feels wilder, with bigger, emptier beaches but more isolated resorts. Choose Sal for convenience, Boa Vista for space.
Add an island

Best time for a Cape Verde honeymoon
Cape Verde is warm all year, with daytime temperatures typically in the mid-20s to around 30°C. The best time for a honeymoon is roughly November to June, when it is dry and sunny. December to March is peak winter-sun season for European travellers; it is also the windiest period, which kitesurfers love, and there can be hazy days from Saharan dust.
August to October is the hottest and most humid time, with the warmest sea and a chance of short, heavy showers. It is also turtle-nesting season on Boa Vista and Sal, roughly July to October, when guided night walks can be a special experience.

This outline assumes an international departure from São Vicente. Check CVsky flights and CV Interilhas sailings before hotels. If flying home from Sal or Boa Vista, adjust the nights to finish there. Keep the final night on your departure island; avoid same-day domestic or ferry connections to international flights. With a week, choose one beach island.
How much does a Cape Verde honeymoon cost?
Cape Verde is one of the most affordable beach honeymoons on this site, especially for couples flying from Europe, where many all-inclusive packages are available. As a rough guide, allow around US$4,000–8,000 per couple for a 10-night honeymoon including flights from Europe, depending on the season, the resort and how much island-hopping you do. Peak winter weeks and school holidays cost the most.
A real price check: for 8–15 March 2027 (peak season), seven nights for two at a top Sal resort came to about US$2,270 at the Hilton Cabo Verde Sal Resort, US$2,560 all-inclusive at the Riu Palace Santa Maria and US$2,670 all-inclusive at the adults-only Robinson Cabo Verde, taxes included, before flights. Before requesting a quote: treat US$4,000–8,000 as an indicative range. Specify your departure airport, room and board basis; ask whether domestic flights, baggage, ferries, airport/port transfers, taxes and excursions are included. Getting there
International flights arrive mainly on Sal and Boa Vista, with others to Santiago and São Vicente. There are direct flights from several European cities, taking around four to six hours from much of Western Europe.
Entry requirements

Airport and accommodation charges
Checked 21 October 2026: the government’s TSA guidance lists CVE3,400 per eligible international arrival and CVE150 for domestic flights, collected with the ticket; exemptions apply. Accommodation tax is separate: Kira’s Boutique Hotel publishes CVE276 per adult per night, excluded from its room rates, for up to ten consecutive nights. For two liable adults over ten taxable nights, allow CVE5,520 accommodation tax plus CVE6,800 international TSA. Check which charges your hotel or package has already collected.
Health

The currency is the Cape Verdean escudo (CVE), which is pegged to the euro. Euros are widely accepted in tourist areas, and cards work at larger hotels and restaurants.
