Four or five nights in Cape Town followed by five to seven nights in Mauritius is one of the cleanest Africa honeymoon combinations: restaurants, mountains and the Winelands first; warm-water resort time afterwards.

Yes—Cape Town and Mauritius work exceptionally well as a two-stop honeymoon. Cape Town gives you a visually dramatic, food-led city stay with beaches and nearby wine country; Mauritius then removes almost every decision with a single resort, warm lagoon and slower days. For most couples, 10 nights is the minimum and 12 nights is better.

Best when you want one Cape Town hotel and one Mauritius resort. Use one Cape day for the Peninsula or Constantia rather than moving to Franschhoek.

The stronger luxury version. Wine country becomes a proper romantic chapter, but the itinerary still finishes with six unhurried island nights.
If you have only eight nights, choose one destination rather than compressing both. The transfer day matters, and Mauritius should not be reduced to a three-night resort stop.

Why Cape Town works before Mauritius
Cape Town is the stimulating half of the honeymoon: Table Mountain, the Atlantic Seaboard, the Cape Peninsula, excellent restaurants and easy access to Constantia or the Winelands. The goal is not to see everything. Four nights gives enough weather flexibility for Table Mountain while still leaving room for one slow afternoon.

Why Mauritius belongs at the end
Mauritius works best as the exhale. The official Mauritius tourism board promotes the island specifically for honeymoons and highlights private catamaran cruises, couples’ spa treatments, beaches, waterfalls, nature and food experiences. The island is warm year-round, so the main decision is less “can we go?” and more which coast suits our month and travel style?
Le Morne and the west are our easiest all-round recommendation for couples who want scenery and sunsets. The east coast is strongest when the resort itself is the destination. The north and north-west suit couples who want more restaurants and off-resort variety.

Cape Town to Mauritius: direct flight or Johannesburg connection?
Use the direct Cape Town–Mauritius flight when it matches your dates. Air Mauritius’s published 29 March–24 October 2026 timetable lists three weekly Cape Town services, reducing to two weekly in May and June. Its Cape Town route page lists a flight time of about six hours. Schedules change seasonally, so lock the regional flight before making non-refundable hotel bookings.
